The Wedge-tailed eagle is absolutely stunning and mesmerising!
My good friend Matt and Taronga Zoo Bird Show manager, asked me to come and take some pics of the new addition. This young male is yet to be named but is fitting into zoo life and really enjoying the company of his trainers.
He was completely relaxed through out the photo session and as I was looking at him through my camera I became nervous because he cocked his head and started to really eye ball me. Matt told me that he was actually looking at his reflection in my lens. He did this many times, he was very keen on checking himself out!
I really love his feathered hackles around his neck. The light wind would gently pick them up sending me into photographic euphoria :) The eagle would also stretch his massive wings out whenever the wind picked up, bumping me in the side of the head on one occasion.
